Feb 28, 2021Have you missed on your child's vaccines due to the pandemic?
The routine childhood immunization services were substantially disrupted due to the COVID-19 pandemic since many parents were reluctant to leave home due to fear of infection from the COVID-19 virus. But with services slowly getting back to the norm, is it safe for parents to get their children vaccinated? The answer is yes! It is important that infants and young children keep their vaccinations up to date to protect them from deadly diseases. Dr. Benny Benjamin, Senior Consultant Paediatrician & Neonatologist, Fortis Malar Hospital says "Parents need to consult and visit their doctor's office immediately to catch up on missed vaccines without further delay while maintaining safety protocols. There is a risk of vaccine-preventable diseases due to missed vaccines. Health centers, clinics, and hospitals may have designated vaccine clinics on specific days to separate vaccines from fever cases to reduce the risk of COVID-19. It is also important to share the image of the vaccination chart with your doctor who can advise on where to catch up for priority and optional vaccines." For more on "Why Vaccines are important?"
