Back Pain In Kids : Causes And Prevention

ParentCircle, ParentcircleParentCircle

The onset of technology has made many of us lead a sedentary lifestyle. Before smartphones and laptops, children used to go out and play games like hide-and-seek and run and catch. Now, that is not the case. Children hardly play outside. This lack of outdoor play and being glued to the television or smartphone are the major reasons for children being plagued by many diseases. Apart from illnesses, children are also affected by adverse health conditions such as, back and neck pain.

According to an article titled, Technology is 'a back injury time bomb’ for children, published in telegraph.co.uk, “Children are facing a health ‘time bomb’ of neck and back pain relating to the use of computers and smartphones, health experts have warned. More than two-thirds of primary school children have reported experiencing back or neck pain over the course of one year, according to research carried out by Helena Webb, a paediatric physiotherapist at the ABM University Health Board in West Glamorgan.”

It is therefore necessary that you encourage children to go out and play and flex their muscles. Laziness would only worsen the cause and hinder their chances of taking up certain professions. However, before taking up matters in your own hand, consult a doctor and seek his advice.
