Sports Authority Of India

Established by the government in 1984, the Sports Authority of India was started as a Society and acts under the Societies Registration Act, 1860 with basic objectives. The objective of this body is of widening the base of sports and achieving excellence at the national as well as international level. Its role is not only of promoting sports, but also into other sections. This includes maintenance and utilization of Stadia and promotional schemes that are implemented through its regional centres for giving opportunities to young children by providing better facilities in infrastructure, competition exposure, sports equipment, and scientific coaching. It also provides academic programmes and concentrates on Commonwealth games.
